Independence Day is a day meant to celebrate the day, long ago in 1776 when America officially declared its independence from Great Britain with the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Even back then, the day was marked with celebrations that included parades, fireworks, and bonfires. Today, Independence Day in Michigan is no different. Independence Day Parades in Michigan<\/span><\/h2>\n

Parades are often a local conglomeration of people within the community, getting together to promote and celebrate local businesses and groups. In Michigan, you will find multiple parades to help you celebrate July 4th. Oftentimes, they are even combined with other events and activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"4thMarquette, MI<\/span><\/h3>\n

On West Washington St. in Marquette, Michigan is a great parade to help you celebrate the 4th. The parade includes fun floats, local marching bands, and even a display of classic cars. What’s unique about this spot, is that if you come back around 9 pm, you can even catch a boat parade. In addition to these great events, they are introducing a <\/span>new laser show<\/span><\/a> to this year’s roster.<\/span><\/p>\n

While you’re in the area, be sure to visit Presque Isle Park to see some beautiful, accessible spots around Lake Erie. Downtown Marquette is also a very accessible city to wander around in, complete with friendly residents to guide you along, so be sure to explore the area while you’re there. \"4thBoyne City, MI<\/span><\/h3>\n

Boyne City\u2019s <\/span>Independence Day celebration<\/span><\/a> is known to be the \u201cbest fourth in the north,\u201d so you know their July 4th events will be exciting. The fun actually begins on July 3rd, with a craft fair, bounce houses for the kids, and even water slides. At 10 am. on July 4th, however, is the beginning of the Grand Parade, starting at the corner of East and Waters St. The excitement doesn’t stop there, as the boat parade starts at noon and visitors can enjoy various activities all day long.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Allendale, MI<\/span><\/h3>\n

Allendale\u2019s Grand Parade is quite the experience, beginning with the Hooligans Flight Team flyover to kick off the start of their parade. You will also get to see a great display of military vehicles, emergency vehicles, buses, bikes, and more as the whole town gets involved with the celebration. If you stick around for the <\/span>evening events<\/span><\/a>, you can catch the festival at Allendale Community Park, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fourth of July Festivals in Michigan<\/span><\/h2>\n

Nothing is more enjoyable than spending the Fourth of July with loved ones at a traditional festival. Michigan has some great festivals around town to make sure that you have every opportunity to celebrate the Fourth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps one of the most popular festivals in Michigan is the National Cherry Festival. In fact, Traverse City is actually known for being the \u201ccherry capital of the world.\u201d On Union St., you\u2019ll find yourself in the middle of an eight-day festival featuring three parades, an air show, concerts, craft fairs, and more. While you’re there, make sure to explore the rich history of the cherry by visiting the <\/span>local farms, restaurants, and shops<\/span><\/a>. Frankfort, MI<\/span><\/h3>\n

In nearby Frankfort, MI, you\u2019ll find the <\/span>Frankfort Carnival<\/span><\/a>, a great family event held on the Fourth of July each year. The day starts off with a parade at 10 pm. You can also view local art throughout the day and even enjoy classic carnival rides, food, and games. You can even take part or spectate in the Sand Sculpture Contest from noon to 3 pm. Finish the day off with a dramatic firework display at 10:30 pm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
