Nandrolone and Joint Health: What It Can Do for You

Nandrolone and Joint Health

If you are anything like most of the patients treated at EWAA, you have been pushing your body for many years. Youth sports, high school sports, hard-core lifting in college, and then early adulthood.  You are now in your late 30’s, maybe early 40’s or 50’s and you have not slowed down; however, your joints and lower back are telling you something. Having surgery or limiting your workouts to long slow walks with your spouse is not in your DNA.  So, what do you do?  How do you keep going strong well into your 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s without breaking down?

Welcome, Nandrolone!

Nandrolone may ring a bell if you know anything about performance-enhancing drugs in sports or taking steroids in high school or college.  It’s often referred to as DECA or Deca DurabolinNandrolone is a very potent steroid with unbelievable muscle building, and strength affects.  However, what is not well known in the medical community is the overwhelming benefits it has at reversing and preventing joint pain.

As a 47-year-old longtime lifter, I can confidently say that Nandrolone has been a staple in my HRT therapy since I was 38. Without it, I would have had to make significant adjustments to my routine. While I have made minor adjustments in my training over the years to play the long game. I am still pushing my body and lifting as strong as ever.  Before starting Nandrolone, I had dialed back on the intensity and the amount of weights I lifted. This was due to joint pain. With a moderate dose per week, many of my fellow lifters and I report not only strength and muscle gains, but almost unreal improvements in joint and back health.  Upon further research, I discovered that Nandrolone is a real healer of sorts and plays a major role in joint health.

Why is Nandrolone Good for Joint Health?

Nandrolone carries a relatively potent anabolic rating, slightly greater than testosterone.  However, its total androgenic activity is much lower than testosterone. It carries an androgenic rating of only 37 compared to testosterone’s 100.  This lessened androgenic activity of Nandrolone is due to the hormone’s ability to reduce to dihydroandrolone rather than dihydrotestosterone.  This makes it much milder than testosterone, and one of the most well-tolerated anabolic steroids for healthy adult men.  While it does not aromatize much, it does carry a strong progestin nature. Which at higher doses can cause side effects.

Like many anabolic steroids, Nandrolone can enhance protein synthesis, inhibit glucocorticoid hormones, and promote enhanced IGF-1 output.  It also can increase nitrogen retention in muscles and appears to have a stronger effect than many steroids in this regard.  This is important when it comes to muscle tissue, as muscle is comprised of roughly 15% nitrogen.  When nitrogen levels are not well maintained, this can lead to a catabolic (muscle wasting) state.

Where Nandrolone really comes to play is in the traits it carries to increase bone mineral content and enhance collagen synthesis.  Due to these traits, it is well known for promoting joint relief for many athletes. For many, this is the sole reason they use it.  Additionally, it can increase the red cell count. So, you can see why it has such an appeal to the athlete, first responder, gym rat, or anyone wanting to feel and be at their very best.

As a longtime lifter once put it, “if I were getting shipped to a deserted island and could only take one of my HRT medications, I would take Nandrolone.” I could not agree more. That is why Nandrolone is a staple in my HRT program.
