In 1962 scientists had a goal: they wanted to make a mild drug that would promote lean muscle mass in people suffering from muscle-wasting conditions. This drug also had to have very few adverse effects so that women and children could safely take it. Enter a new oral anabolic steroid, Oxandrolone.
In 1964, G.D Searle & Co, an American pharmaceutical company, brought Oxandrolone to market. It became a successful and effective treatment for men, women, and children suffering from burns, catabolic illnesses, infections, and those recovering from surgery. It was also prescribed for people with osteoporosis because it can increase bone mineral density.
Oxandrolone got a bad rap in the late ’80s because athletes and bodybuilders used Oxandrolone to cheat in sports. This is part of the reason that G.D Searle & Co pulled Oxandrolone off the shelves in 1989.
In 1995 Oxandrolone made a comeback. It was distributed by BTG (Bio-Technology General Corp) and renamed Oxandrin. BTG was granted orphan drug designation, which gave BTG 7 years of exclusivity, resulting in a pharmaceutical monopoly. This monopoly allowed BTG to increase the price of Oxandrolone by 1,200%!
Oxandrin is still sold today by a company called Savient (formerly BTG). When the orphan drug designation expired, the monopoly was destroyed, which means that now you can get Generic Oxandrolone. However, it is in high demand, and only a few labs in the world produce it, so it is one of the highest-priced steroids on the market.
OK, Enough with the History Lesson. What is Oxandrolone?
Oxandrolone is a unique oral anabolic steroid hormone. Doctors use it to prevent frailty and muscle mass loss due to aging (sarcopenia) and other related catabolic clinical disorders such as HIV -related muscle wasting, severe burn injuries, trauma after surgery, and hepatitis.
Most steroids get FDA-approved, hit the market running, and then get banned because too many harsh side effects start to show up. Oxandrolone is unique because it remains FDA-approved even today. However, despite studies proving the safety of long-term use (1), Oxandrolone is classed as a schedule III consoled substance and is banned from recreational use.
What it does:
- Decreases visceral fat and total body fat
- Increases protein synthesis in skeletal muscle
- Increases dietary energy and protein intake
- Substitutes for the natural loss of androgen and estrogen hormones
- Increases nitrogen retention
- Increases muscle function, growth, strength, and physical activity level
Why Our Clients Can’t Live Without It
Oxandrolone is one of the most coveted steroids on the market. The reason? Its risk/reward ratio is very positive. When it comes to steroids, the general rule is: the better the results, the more side effects.
Oxandrolone may not be as powerful as other steroids, but it has far fewer and milder side effects than they do.
You know it’s gotta rock if people are willing to pay such a steep price. It has all the benefits you would expect from a steroid with fewer side effects. Benefits include:
- Muscle gain
- Fat loss
- Strength-building
- Mild side effects
- Female-friendly
- Enhanced athletic performance
- Big pumps
- Less Liver Toxic than other steroids
- No Gyno or Water Retention
- Less Androgenicity
When used in a clinical setting with low to moderate doses, Oxandrolone doesn’t typically produce any dangerous side effects. It’s been branded by researchers as “effective and safe” even when used in the long term.
However, if you abuse it in a recreational setting by using higher doses, Oxandrolone will bite you in the butt, liver, heart, and kidneys. No, really. When used in high doses, your risk increases of the following side effects:
- High LDL cholesterol
- Low-T
- Kidney damage
- Hair loss
Hey Ladies! This Steroid Is for You!
You heard us ladies- Oxandrolone has a mild androgenic rating which means it rarely produces virilization side effects in women. If you want to use steroids to build muscles and burn fat, but you don’t want:
- Your voice to deepen
- More body hair
- A larger clitoris
- A more pronounced jaw
- Your breasts to shrink
- Menstrual cycles all over the map
Then you have found your new BAF (best anabolic friend)!
There is a caveat, though. Just like the other side effects, if you go off the beam and take it in doses higher than recommended, some of those masculine enhancements may pop up. So, don’t take more than 10mg a day.
Reducing the Side Effects
Because the side effects are so mild, the best way to reduce side effects is to use Oxandrolone as directed! We know we’ve said it before, but we can’t emphasize this enough: You will get freaking awesome results if you follow our recommended dosing.
Dosing
Now that we’ve hammered that in, let’s talk dosing. As a Schedule III drug, Oxandrolone is prescription only. The best way to use it is to work with a healthcare provider who can take your goals, physique, and medical history into account. Here’s an idea of what your provider might prescribe:
Men
When it first hit the market, a typical dose of Oxandrolone was 5-10mg. Today, athletes and bodybuilders typically take 15-25mg per day administered for 6-8 weeks. You want to short cycle it because longer cycles are more likely to be hepatotoxic (liver damage), cause elevated LDL cholesterol levels, and shut down natural testosterone production.
Ladies
When Oxandrolone was first released, there were no dosage instructions specific to women. Really??? But it was made so that women and children could take it!
We know, but it was the ’60s. The only thing they put out was a caution that pregnant women should refrain from using it.
After half a century of trial and error, women have found that doses in the range of 5-10mg a day seem to be the sweet spot for producing noticeable results in muscle growth and fat loss while keeping masculinization side effects at bay. Women should keep cycles down to 4-6 weeks.
