All this talk of hormone imbalances may cause you to wonder:

  • What exactly causes hormone imbalances?
  • Where do they come from?
  • Are there things I can do to prevent them?

This is an extremely important question to us at EvexiPEL because part of our integrated approach to pellet therapy is identifying the root cause of your hormonal imbalance, and addressing it.

We believe that dealing with the root issue is the most effective way to treat hormone imbalances, rather than just putting a band-aid on the problem – and we have to say, our results speak for themselves!

There are lots of things that can cause your hormone levels to fluctuate. Some causes of hormone imbalances are specific to men or women, but many can occur in either sex.

Endocrine Glands

Your endocrine glands are your body cells that deal with hormones. They make hormones, store hormones, and release them into your bloodstream.

When your endocrine glands aren’t functioning properly, hormonal imbalances can occur. Endocrine glands such as your thyroid gland, parts of the pancreas, and gonads control some of your body’s vital organs.

So when your endocrine glands aren’t functioning the way they should, they can’t give the proper information to those organs, often resulting in you feeling pretty crappy.

Plenty of medical conditions that cause hormonal imbalances result from the improper functioning of your endocrine glands.

Some of these are fairly common, such as hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid) and hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid).

Lifestyle

As with most things, our lifestyle habits (or lifestyle predispositions) can impact our hormone levels – sometimes leading to hormone imbalances.

Some of these won’t surprise you – chronic or extreme stress can impact hormone imbalances. This brings up a great example of the type of integrated approach to BHRT we take here at EvexiPEL.

If something like high stress is impacting your hormone levels, we will make every effort to figure out exactly what’s causing the stress, and what we both can do to prevent it moving forward.

Poor Diet

A poor diet, or lack of getting the proper nutrition your body needs, can be another cause of hormonal imbalances.

This is another case where an integrated approach to pellet therapy will result in the best sustainable, long-term solution.

We can insert a pellet into your body, but if your diet doesn’t change, you’re probably going to need to see us again before too long.

We don’t want to waste anyone’s time or money by giving you the same treatment over and over. We’d much rather work with you on how to:

  • Improve your diet
  • Find a balance together of lifestyle alterations and BHRT

Allergies

Severe allergies or infections are examples of lifestyle predispositions that can cause hormonal imbalances.

Once again, in cases like these, it’s extremely important to us at EvexiPEL to find out the root cause of your hormonal imbalance.

Infections or allergies are often issues that can be resolved – or at least partially resolved – if you’re aware of the cause of them.

If it turns out the root cause of your hormone imbalance is a severe allergy, we would be happy to work with you to create an integrated solution, combining our superior pellet therapy treatment with methods of reducing your allergy.

Men vs. Women

When discussing the causes of hormonal imbalances, it’s important to note that this stuff works differently for women than for men. Let’s start with women:

If you’re a woman, there are several times in your life that hormone imbalances are much more likely to occur.

These include puberty, during menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and menopause. So if you’re going through those stages and feeling a little weird, don’t fret – you’re not alone, and it’s very normal!

Men don’t go through quite so many stages that make them susceptible to hormone imbalances. It’s mainly just puberty and aging.

There are, however, certain medical conditions that can cause hormone imbalances in men that don’t apply to women – a big one is issues with your pancreas.

We Can Help

We think it’s appropriate right about now to say that almost everyone experiences hormonal fluctuations at some point (or points) in their life.

So if you’re feeling ashamed or embarrassed about your hormonal imbalance – don’t! Instead of stressing (which can lead to even more of a hormone imbalance!), come see us, we’ll figure out the root cause and a long-lasting treatment plan!
