Before I left, while all the morning crazies were going on, I washed, scrubbed, cut and prepped some sweet potatoes on the \u201cmagic pan.\u201d When I got home in the afternoon, I just had to pop them in the oven and voila!<\/p>\n<p>Doing morning prep like this makes a healthier lifestyle choice more doable. Getting home at 5 p.m. and trying to reinvent the wheel with whatever ingredients you can pull together from your cupboard is next to impossible.<\/p>\n<p>Here are six helpful tips everyone can use to make living a healthier lifestyle just a little bit easier:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<h3>Wash a whole bag of veggies at a time.<\/h3>\n<p>Wash and prep a whole bag of celery, potatoes, broccoli, carrots, etc. Then put what you won\u2019t use that day in a zip lock bag in the fridge for another day or two until you need the rest. This is a huge time saver.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Have tools that work!<\/h3>\n<p>Make sure your knives are sharpened, your cutting board is large, and your sink doesn\u2019t have dirty dishes in it. This gives you the ideal clean working space to get what you need to do done fast.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Don\u2019t wait until 5 p.m. to make dinner.<\/h3>\n<p>Always have things in the pipeline so that mealtime doesn\u2019t become a two hour ordeal. If I have 15 minutes in the morning, I will start some prep. I make salads for 2 to 3 days at a time. Veggies are washed and chopped in the fridge already!<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Have quick \u201cto-go\u201d veggies.<\/h3>\n<p>I have a cast iron wok on my stovetop. It lives there all the time. I can easily throw a large array of veggies in there to make a great quick and easy dish.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Don\u2019t force a vegetable!<\/h3>\n<p>If you don\u2019t like a certain vegetable, don\u2019t eat it. So many times, a client will come to me and tell me that they can\u2019t do this lifestyle because they don\u2019t like broccoli or Brussels sprouts. Really?! There are literally hundreds of other vegetables out there. Eat the healthy foods that taste good to you\u2014not the ones that don\u2019t. There\u2019s no benefit in forcing anything. And listen up parents: This goes for the kids to! The easiest way to turn kids off to whole real foods is to force all of them on them. Give a variety of healthy options for them to pick from so they can learn to love their favorites.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3>Add a fresh juice or smoothie into your daily routine.<\/h3>\n<p>Add a fresh juice or smoothie into your daily routine.\u00a0 Make at least one meal or snack that is nutrient dense and packed with fruits and vegetables like a juice or smoothie would be. Getting that infusion of pure produce will help you see the value in this way of life. But make sure to make it easy for yourself. If you can\u2019t juice, buy one from a fresh juicer. If you don\u2019t have time in the morning, keep your blender at work.
