In fact, a whopping 19% of American meals are eaten in the car.\u00a0<strong>That\u2019s almost 1 in 5!<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>We need to find solutions for healthy eating that will fit in with our fast-paced lifestyle.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Here are four of my top tips for finding healthy eating options away from home, so you\u2019re fueling your body with nourishing food no matter where you are!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>1.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Use Your Phone! I\u2019ve found these apps and websites to be particularly helpful when I want to find healthy places to eat no matter where I am! Most of them allow you to search for vegan and vegetarian-friendly places, too. Scope out the menus ahead of time, so you can find restaurants that offer at least one healthy option.<\/div>\n<div>a.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Food Tripping (app)<\/div>\n<div>b.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Happy Cow (app &amp; website)<\/div>\n<div>c.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Eatwellguide.com (website)<\/div>\n<div>d.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>DineGreen.com (website)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>2.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Know Where to Go.\u00a0No matter where I am, I\u2019ve found that I can make do by heading to one of the four places listed below when I\u2019m in a pinch and need a meal or snack.<\/div>\n<div>a.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Grocery Store Salad Bars, especially Whole Foods, Wegmans, and Natural Food Stores. Try Whole Foods Market\u2019s Health Starts Here meals in their prepared foods section. They are healthy, delicious and affordable!<\/div>\n<div>b.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Farmer\u2019s Markets: Use the Food Tripping app to find farmer\u2019s markets near where you\u2019re traveling or staying and swing by for a fresh, healthy meal or snack.<\/div>\n<div>c.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Juice Bars, Smoothie Places &amp; Cafes: Look for mom and pop shops vs. the chain smoothie places, which tend to load up on sugar in their smoothies.<\/div>\n<div>d.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Chipotle, Qdoba, Baja Fresh: It\u2019s easier to make a healthier, veggie-heavy choice here than it is at most fast food places. Watch the sodium and avoid the cheese and sour cream, but if you\u2019re in a pinch, a burrito bowl or salad is a good option. Sometimes we just want to make a better option, even if it\u2019s not the best.<\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2020\" src=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/navacenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/menu-guide.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/navacenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/menu-guide.jpg 640w, https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/navacenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/menu-guide-300x132.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>3.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>Become a Menu Buzzword Detective\u2026And Know Before You Go.\u00a0If you get into a situation where you can\u2019t do #1 or 2 above, use the handy chart below to help you make the best choices.\u00a0Don\u2019t be shy \u2013 no matter where you are, any decent restaurant should be able to serve you a salad with a bean or meat-based protein on top.<\/div>\n<div>4.<span class=\"Apple-tab-span\">\u00a0<\/span>BYOS (Bring Your Own Snacks!): Whether I\u2019m traveling to Seattle for a conference, Virginia for a presentation or New York for vacation, I always pack healthy snacks. If I\u2019m not able to pack them ahead of time, I\u2019ve found many of the snacks below at everywhere from grocery stores and farmer\u2019s markets to Target and gas stations (most limited option, of course).
