Meanwhile, follow these guidelines according to your problem to increase the chances of success.

Baby and Toddler Tooth Injuries

In the event of gum or tooth injuries in infants or toddlers, follow these steps:

Control Bleeding: If bleeding is present, use a piece of gauze soaked in cold water to apply gentle pressure to the affected area.
Reduce Swelling: Offer the child something cold, which can help reduce swelling and pain. Please ask our pediatric dentists for more information.
Seek Dental Care: Visit the dentist as soon as possible for a professional evaluation. For very young children, a spacer may be recommended to maintain tooth alignment until the permanent tooth emerges.
Watch for Signs: Over the following week, monitor for signs of an abscess, such as fever and swollen, tender gums near the injury site.

Chipped or Broken Permanent Teeth

If a permanent tooth is chipped or broken, follow these guidelines:

Collect Tooth Fragments: Retrieve all pieces of the broken tooth if possible.
Rinse Gently: Rinse the injured area of the mouth with warm water.
Apply Cold Compress: Give the child a cold compress to apply to the injured tooth, which can help alleviate discomfort.
Get Immediate Dental Care: Seek immediate dental attention for proper assessment and treatment.

Knocked-Out Permanent Teeth

In the event of a knocked-out permanent tooth, follow these crucial steps:

Handle with care: Hold the tooth by its crown (the top part), avoiding contact with the root.
Rinse gently: Rinse the tooth immediately with saline solution or milk. Avoid using tap water unless it’s a last resort, as it may damage the root. Do not scrub the tooth.
Reinsert if possible: Ideally, the tooth should be reinserted gently into its socket. If the child can cooperate, replace it and have them bite down on a gauze pad to hold it in place.
Preserve in milk: If reinsertion isn’t possible, immerse the tooth in milk – an effective preservative that is compatible with teeth. If milk is unavailable, place it between your cheek and lower gum inside your mouth.
Control bleeding: Provide the child with a gauze pad to bite down on, helping to reduce bleeding and ease discomfort.
Seek immediate care: Visit the dentist or a local children’s hospital with dental services for prompt professional assistance.
