The bartender-moderator asks, \u201cwhat does it take?\u201d The first show director says, \u201cchange is required.\u201d The second director says, \u201cchange is required.\u201d The third one, \u201cchange is required.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s right \u2013 there\u2019s no punchline, unless the joke is on you. Because that actually happened last week during the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsnn.com\/tsnn-webinars\" target=\"_blank\">Trade Show News Network webinar Fast Like Us: What it Takes to be One of the Fastest-Growing Trade Shows in North America<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During that webinar I was joined by three smart people making a difference in their show communities by leading teams in how to get comfortable with change, creating an atmosphere where new things can be tried, and using all the resources at their disposal to investigate new ways of doing business.<\/p>\n<p>Tasha Ventimiglia, Event Director for\u00a0Labelexpo Americas, told a great story about working with her editorial team to identify new ways labels are being used around the world, and turning that into a pavilion on the trade show floor.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='' src=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/fd6903bd-1cbc-4920-adbe-28542484f77a.jpg\" style=\"float:left; height:132px; margin:5px; width:200px\" data-entity-uuid=\"cca49294-06c8-41cd-a9ed-49543fd211aa\" data-entity-type=\"file\">\u201cOur team keeps up with market trends, our exhibitors give us ideas, too,\u201d says Tasha.<\/p>\n<p>Tasha and her team also listen to their data, as evidenced by a successful education program in Colombia that fed hundreds of attendees into the Labelexpo Americas database and resulted in new show registrations.<\/p>\n<p>It was clear that being open to these kind of new ideas, and listening for ways to improve was working for this fastest-growing show. How could you approach your team and your data with a mind toward change?<\/p>\n<p>Another of our webinar participants, Mark Bogdansky, Vice President of Exhibit Operations for National Retail Federation, was about to head out to one of his major events, shop.org. It\u2019s for that show NRF made a change to the way exhibitor services are packaged in order to help their exhibitor partners better plan expenses and save money.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='' src=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/fa889b36-e952-4410-8076-99023d8dc091.jpg\" style=\"float:right; height:200px; line-height:20.8px; margin:5px; opacity:0.9; width:200px\" data-entity-uuid=\"f3e884b2-dfc5-4193-8a25-acb318f62f53\" data-entity-type=\"file\"><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s right, by doing the work to analyze the data and expenses, Mark and his general contractor have been able to serve up better packages that boost exhibitor ROI.<em> (Editor disclaimer: That GSC is The Expo Group.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s just one example Mark discussed of how his team works to create an optimal selling environment for exhibitors that ends up benefitting the attendee too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat experiences can we bring to the floor?\u201d is a question Mark and his team answer with different configurations for show-floor attendee education and more importantly for structured networking right among the exhibits. Finding the right mix takes trial, error and ultimately a commitment to success.<\/p>\n<p><img alt='' src=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/c90ea962-fc8f-4dc0-94c7-fac2033d0102.jpg\" style=\"float:left; height:116px; margin:5px; width:200px\" data-entity-uuid=\"3c575b1d-48a4-406f-bcc1-4f22441e0223\" data-entity-type=\"file\">Networking of the social kind is being done plenty at the Cattle Industry Convention &amp; NCBA Trade Show, where the Executive Director of Meetings and Events for National Cattlemen\u2019s Beef Association is calling upon the young leaders in her organization to serve as ambassadors for the show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUse ambassadors to reach out to others,\u201d says Kristin, who tasked these young leaders with drawing more attendees in a very specific and targeted program that uses their social media prowess and passion for the industry to spread the word.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s this kind of \u201csmall bet\u201d as Kristin and her team refer to them, that can pay big dividends on attendance numbers.
