Two giants in this race to the top &#8211; Google and Apple &#8211; were only responsible for 27 of those deals.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4746 \" src=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/artificial-intelligence-2228610_640.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"292\" height=\"284\" srcset=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/artificial-intelligence-2228610_640.jpg 411w, https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/artificial-intelligence-2228610_640-300x292.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 292px) 100vw, 292px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unlike Google and Apple, not every company has entrepreneurs pounding on the door trying to get a meeting with them. They have to go out and find acquisition targets they believe can help them grab market share for a technology that is still in its most primitive stages.<\/p>\n<p>The search for start-ups to acquire often starts in a trade show\u2019s aisles.<\/p>\n<p>Show organizers have begun to realize it isn\u2019t just sales leads exhibitors seek when they invest in events &#8212; they\u2019re also looking for new business partners. More and more, exhibiting companies participate in events in order to meet each other, to find new partners and learn more about their marketplace.<\/p>\n<p>Armed with this knowledge, show organizers must position themselves to increase the value of their events to those exhibitors who are looking for more than their next sale.<\/p>\n<p>To start with, show organizers could help participating companies connect with those they\u2019re looking to partner with. Over the last decade or so, corporations have slashed their R&amp;D budgets and now hope to acquire the innovations that start-ups can offer them.<\/p>\n<p>Those innovations are often on view in the booths of your first-time exhibitors, but not always. Some of them haven\u2019t reached the stage yet where they\u2019re ready for the show floor.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4805\" src=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/techlab.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/techlab.jpg 820w, https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/techlab-300x203.jpg 300w, https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/techlab-768x519.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What if you created an \u201cInventors Pavilion\u201d or \u201cInnovation Showcase\u201d for entrepreneurs who have not yet reached the stage where they\u2019re ready for a 10&#215;10? At the very least, you could provide a start-up pavilion of some kind and an awards program that shines light on innovations in the industry you serve.<\/p>\n<p>Show floor demonstrations &#8212; robot challenges or competitions of any sort &#8212; can train the spotlight on smaller exhibitors who have the technology and the innovations, but not yet the savvy to market themselves the way their more experienced peers do.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4806\" src=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/techlabinside.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"210\" srcset=\"https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/techlabinside.jpg 1201w, https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/techlabinside-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/techlabinside-768x462.jpg 768w, https:\/\/c1mdevsite.com\/theexpogroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/techlabinside-1024x616.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Knowing that some of your industry\u2019s most significant corporate leaders are using your show to find their next innovations, exhibitor-only programming may be an option you can offer during the hours when the exhibit hall is closed.<\/p>\n<p>With a little imagination, you could come up with conference content tailored to exhibitors and create an appointment-scheduling program designed to allow established exhibitors to meet new ones. An annual exclusive \u201cstate of the industry\u201d report that takes the form of an invitation-only program could lead to the kind of interactions research shows exhibitors want.<\/p>\n<p>To survive in today\u2019s competitive atmosphere, events must become their industries\u2019 next business incubators.
