I’m Taking the Vegan Challenge for June

I’m Taking the Vegan Challenge for June
May 28, 2014
On June 1st, I will start my Vegan challenge for 30 days. Yes, you read correctly, I, Brittany Metz, am going Vegan.  Most of you have likely read this about Nava’s Summer of Wellness Challenge!
Well, adopting a vegan diet is the challenge for June.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am passionate about food. Some of my favorite life experiences have been over a meal.
For me, the only way I am able to tackle such a challenge is the fact that I can still consume wine. Yes, wine.  If wine was on the “do not touch” list, I would not be taking on this challenge.
Everyone has a vice, don’t judge.
I believe the hardest part of this challenge will be finding worthy restaurants to dine in. I will certainly have to get creative with my cooking at home, and by cooking at home, I mean I will have to start.
If you have any recommendations on Vegan cook books, please leave them in the comments below! I will certainly need help.
Now most of you are probably wondering why I am accepting this challenge, especially in the summer. The reason being is, I have signed up for my first Triathlon in September and what better way to cleanse my system and make it race ready, than eating as close to the ground as possible.

Outside of the increased energy levels and the reported increased vim and vigor I will experience, I should in fact have glowing radiant skin.

Can you think of a better time to flaunt glowing skin than in the summer?

Hopefully, when it is all said and done, I will have a lifelong love affair with plant foods.
My colleague Suzanne Coblentz, will be joining me in this challenge. Look out for Suzanne’s blog next week. Please wish us luck.
Once we begin this challenge on June 1st, I will provide regular updates to share how I am feeling, my level of nerves and how many times I have cried, knowing I won’t enjoy soft crabs, oysters or a fat steak for 30 days.
Stay tuned!
